You Know You Have a Book Lover When…

…he asks if he can take over your mopping so you can read aloud to him.

But what would the authorities think if they walked in and saw Mum with her feet up reading a book aloud while her son does the housework….Hehehehe…Deep down I’d know they were purely jealous.

Just another homeschooling perk…children that love to read AND know how to mop!!

Hard to say. It can be anything from 1 to 3 hours. But probably more middle of the road most of the time – 1.5 to 2 over the course of the day.

I used to read much less but was convicted that reading is one of the most important activities in our day and so have made a conscious effort to a read a LOT.

My advice would be to start where you can with the mindset to increase.

Bear in mind too that it took a little while to build the boys concentration levels when they were small AND I also allow the boys to play or draw quietly on the floor or at the table while I read novels so they aren’t sitting on the couch beside me the whole time. That wouldn’t work for my boys at all. They have to be able to move to think.
