Moth Update…we never tire of them

We have a whole bunch of female moths now and plenty of action…well actually mating is a very sedentary process.

The boys delighted is holding the moths today.  They are such placid obliging creatures…the moths, that is.

It helps that the moths can’t fly…hehe.

We have lots of empty cocoons now.  Hmmm…what shall we do with them.

We also looked closely at the four – yes, four – wings that our silkworm moths have.  Can you see the second smaller wing on the underside of the larger wing?

    Apparently the ability has been bred out of them to make them more easily farmed for their silk…or so we read.
