My Arty Fellow

16 Dec

Brayden has been keeping himself entertained over the holidays with all sorts of arty endeavours.  He doesn’t wait or expect directed crafts and activities but enjoys the freedom to utilise the resources in our art cupboard whenever he chooses…as long as he cleans up after himself.

These are just a few of my favourite artistic pieces that Brayden created one morning:

Began a dinosaur mosiac

and my favourite, although a tad gruesome, but understandable considering our current audio story, Kingdom’s Dawn combined with Brayden passion for Star Wars.

One poor fellow being stabbed through by a sword while another seems to be experiencing electrocution by sword...perhaps it's a light saber

I love how my boys entertain themselves.   They are always busy doing something.  “I’m bored” is just not in their vocabulary.  It makes holidays so much nicer.

GREAT post! Now you have shown me a GREAT way to organize all the various arts and crafts stuff for James – I have it all mish mash in a big roller box and that just isn’t working to allow him to access it for himself!

I used to have a craft box until it became two and three craft boxes and a real pain to get to. When we moved to this house there were two linen closets so I turned the smaller one into an art and craft cupboard. It’s wonderful. It’s stuff full of goodies and to make it more useable I’ve been squirreling away dishes each time they go on sale to keep everything in order. With the clear dishes we can see what’s inside, what needs restocking, and the boys can easily get out what they need, be inspired by what they see, and if everything falls out of the cupboard it’s easy to stack it all back in. Here’s a link to the last big art cupboard declutter: Amazingly it’s still looking pretty tidy.
