Picture Book Treats

21 Apr

After attending the “Gruffalo” and “Gruffalo’s Child” theatre performances we borrowed out all of the library’s copies of Julia Donaldson’s books.

We thoroughly enjoyed the rhythm and rhyme in her stories.

Our favourite title, aside from the Gruffalo books of course, was “The Highway Rat”.   Such a wonderful story to read aloud.  This story may find its way onto my shelves.  🙂

One of our favourite features of Julia Donaldson’s books has been the hidden little pictures that link some of the books.

We found a Gruffalo fish…

and Gruffalo cookies.

Isn’t that just delightful?  I love clever things like this.

Yes, we do still enjoy picture books.   Why not?  The stories are so cleverly told and beautifully illustrated.

Picture books are also invaluable in our literature analysis studies. (More on this later.)

I highly recommend finding yourself a pile of picture books and someone to enjoy them with.

We’re never too old to read or listen to picture books.

🙂
