Marlin Theatre Performance

21 Mar

Yesterday, we headed off to the theatre

to see “Marlin”.

We’d read the book it was inspired by

– The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway –

and were wondering how they would create a related story for stage.

We were somewhat impressed.

It was a much more involved theatre story than we were used to,

with more mature concepts.

But it was the stage effects that truly captured us.

The authentically rocking boat, in the bubbling sea of foam,

was impressive.

Our only regret

was the crass language that was used.

That was an assault to our senses

and, for us, it was a definite detraction from the performance.

This language makes me a little reluctant to recommend the performance to friends,

which is a shame,

as we really did enjoy the performance.
