We saw this book advertised ages ago
and the concept sounded great.
It’s a fun novel about pirates
that contains teaching about finances.
I still like the concept
but I could not recommend the book to others.
This book read more like a Mills and Boons novel at times
than a children’s book.
Here’s some examples,
“Their never-ending curves were accentuated by their tight-fitting clothing.”
“He looked the twins up and down. He felt hypnotized by their Coke-bottle figures.”
“I’d rather have Penny be fully un-vested, if you get me drift.”
“He tried to concentrate on what she was saying , but he found it hard given that her body was pressed up against his. Other thoughts filled his mind.”
“Joey put his hand on her lower back and pulled her toward him. She looked up into his blue eyes and drew in a deep breath. He put his hand gently on her neck. Her lips parted slightly. He moved his lips closer to hers. She closed her eyes and allowed herself to be drawn to him.” etc etc.
It’s totally unnecessary and inappropriate content
for a children’s book
that just detracts from what was a rather good idea.
Such a shame.
(And I’m extra annoyed because the book cost so much more than most books!)
Nope, I can not recommend this book at all.
